Our event chair introduces the day ahead.
AI is not just another IT upgrade. It will fundamentally change how we upskill our employees and indeed how work gets done. It represents probably the most important workplace development since the Industrial Revolution. But how should HR professionals respond? What is hype and what essential messages may we be missing in the overwhelm of the many AI reports and bulletins issued daily?
In this Keynote session our Chairman, Barry Phillips, cuts through the noise to provide clear guidance on how HR professionals can assist or lead in the implementation and optimisation of AI in the workplace.
Areas covered include:
Augmenting workforce skills using GenAI. ChatGPT or Copilot or something else? Why the choice will shape your workplace for years to come
Using AI to drive new levels of efficiency. Where to start? How to identify processes for automation or AI. Five things the successful early adopters are doing.
Optimising GenAI whilst keeping data safe and secure: The vital rule of ABC.
“Shadow use” of AI by employees and what to do about it.
Digital coaching – we share the results of our own Legal Island pilot
The EU Pay Transparency Directive is set to transform how pay equity is managed across the EU and Irish employers need to start preparing now.
With a transposition deadline of 7 June 2026, this new legal framework will bring major changes to recruitment, pay reporting and employee rights. It’s not just about compliance – it’s about shifting towards genuine pay transparency and tackling unjustified gender pay gaps.
Join Maura Connolly, Head of Employment and Partner at Addleshaw Goddard (Ireland) LLP, as she breaks down what Irish employers need to know, including:
The countdown to 2026 has begun. This session will help you get ahead of the curve, avoid legal pitfalls, and build a more transparent and equitable workplace.
Ireland has one of the highest percentages of remote workers in the EU, with 21.5% of employed persons aged 15–64 in 2023 working from home. At the end of 2024, 17.5 % of Irish job listings mentioned remote or hybrid working —more than four times higher than pre‑2020 levels. There is no doubt that hybrid and remote work are now a permanent feature of Ireland’s workplace culture. While these models offer flexibility and access to wider talent pools, they also create challenges that HR professionals must address to protect productivity, engagement and compliance.
In this session, Caroline Reidy, Managing Director, HR Suite, will explore:
If you’re an Irish employer looking to turn hybrid working from a headache into a competitive advantage, this session is essential.

“I'm not sure this is working out... can we speak off the record?"
It might sound like a harmless opener - but under Irish employment law, the stakes are high when trying to initiate even casual conversations when it comes to an employee’s potential exit.
Join Bernadette Day, Partner at Simmons & Simmons as she explains how HR might manage sensitive conversations. Learn when to involve legal support, how to avoid common pitfalls, and why even well-meant chats can expose an employer to claims resulting in increased costs.
Whether you're dealing with underperformance, a breakdown in trust, or simply trying to avoid litigation, this session will equip you with the tools to approach sensitive discussions legally, strategically - and without walking straight into a WRC claim.
If you're an HR practitioner in Ireland, this is essential knowledge. Don’t assume the law gives you cover - it often doesn’t.”
Accurate, objective note-taking is one of the most critical yet often overlooked aspects of workplace investigations. Poorly recorded notes can undermine the entire process, leading to credibility issues and increased legal risk for employers. This session will give HR professionals a clear framework for capturing high-quality notes that protect both the organisation and the integrity of the investigation.
In this session, Michelle Halloran, HR Consultant, will focus on:

The EU AI Act is now in force and will reshape how Irish employers use AI in the workplace. For HR leaders, the Act has immediate relevance: from recruitment platforms and performance management tools to workplace monitoring systems, many common HR technologies now fall under its scope.
Employers must not only understand the risk categories set out in the Act but also ensure compliance through updated procurement, governance, and oversight processes. With phased enforcement dates already set at EU level, HR leaders need to act now to avoid compliance gaps and reputational risks.
Join Linda Hynes, Partner at Lewis Silkin as she guides you on:
Prepare your HR team now for the new era of AI regulation and safeguard your workplace systems.
