Legal-Island's employment law email update services cover the entire island of Ireland but our services differ to account for differences in the jurisdictions. We thought that you, as a subscriber to our premium Republic of Ireland service, might be interested in reading a document that summarises many of the cases we covered via our NI service and allows you to find the full 2009 decisions online.

Most of the 120+ cases in this 42-page document are from the Employment Appeal Tribunal in GB and are therefore of only persuasive relevance to practitioners in Ireland. However, over 40 of the case summaries relate to discrimination jurisdictions that apply throughout the EU, including Ireland. Many others cover different EU rights, such as part-time status, TUPE or working time, that also apply in Ireland. Several are decisions of the European Court of Justice and these are generally directly applicable in Irish law, as they are throughout the EU Member States. If you do any business at all in the UK you will find the document useful and relevant to employment law there.
