Redundancy in Practice: Where Employers Go Wrong

Mistakes in a redundancy process can lead to employee claims, reputational damage and costly settlements. Where do employers go wrong, and what can they do to avoid these problems?

Join Legal Island’s Laura McKee as she speaks with Paul Gough, Partner, Employment & Benefits, Data Protection & Freedom of Information Team at Beauchamps, about the most common redundancy pitfalls he encounters in practice.

Drawing on his experience advising employers through redundancy exercises of all sizes, Paul will discuss the mistakes that lead to disputes and explain how employers can manage the process fairly and reduce legal risk.

What will we cover?

We’ll answer three key questions:

- Where do employers most commonly go wrong when planning redundancies?
- What mistakes during consultation, selection and communication create the greatest legal risk?
- How can organisations conduct redundancies fairly, confidently and defensibly?

The discussion will offer practical guidance for HR professionals, managers and anyone responsible for planning or managing redundancies.
