Background

This case concerned the unfair dismissal of the Complainant. The Complainant appealed the quantum of the award of the Rights Commissioner for such. The Complainant argued that additional compensation should be awarded for the treatment of him by the Respondent before the dismissal, the manner of the dismissal and the Respondent's manner in defending the claim. The Court held that the amount of compensation awarded should not go beyond the financial loss attributable to the dismissal, thus the appeal was disallowed.
