We are delighted to annouce our partnership with HEAnet - Ireland’s National Education and Research Network, to offer its client institutions state of the art online training on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) through their brokerage service.
GDPR will be enforced from 25th May 2018 with the Information Commissioner given new powers to apply fines of up to €20m or 4% of global turnover.
HEAnet’s Brokerage Services Manager, Garvan McFeeley, said:
“HEAnet are delighted to collaborate with Legal-Island in providing our clients with access to cost effective online GDPR Compliance training. We look forward to working with them.”
With GDPR enforcement less than 6 months away, this agreement comes at an opportune time.
Barry Phillips, Legal-Island’s Chairman stated:
“Our GDPR eLearning course is significant for Irish workplaces, particularly as we approach the enforcement date of 25th May 2018. Traditionally, this type of training was done in a classroom environment. This was both time consuming and expensive. Now, it is done online at the user’s convenience. Organisations can train all staff much more quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. The online training also includes an assessment and comes with its own audit trail to provide organisations with evidence of course completion which they can point to when working with the Data Commissioner.
Covering the six principles of GDPR, data security, subject access requests and what to do in the event of a data breach, this course will upskill staff and reduce the potential of fines imposed by the Data Commissioner. Partnering with the HEAnet is very exciting because it allows us to roll out the training to many organisations very quickly. It’s a win win for the HEAnet, their clients and Legal-Island.”
