The Complainant worked as a live-in au pair/domestic operative for the Respondents from December 2024 until April 2025. She maintained that she had been engaged for 35.5 hours weekly at €1,600 per month but had routinely been required to work substantially longer hours (including evenings, weekends and public holidays). Her duties had also expanded beyond childcare to household tasks and assisting another family member. She contended that she had been an employee, working personally under the Respondents’ direction and control, rather than an independent contractor.
